Featuring Dorothy Weir

Volunteers at SAH will often lend a hand in more ways than one, providing service to our patients directly or supporting them through other activities such as fundraising.

The Sault Area Hospital Volunteer Association (SAHVA) oversees fundraising activities and supports the SAH Foundation. The SAHVA not only hosts various fundraising events throughout the year, but they also provide ongoing support to the SAH Gift Shop and facilitate the selling of Nevada Lottery Tickets.

Dorothy has been volunteering at SAH for over fifteen years. She not only contributes through fundraising efforts but also volunteers in the Ophthalmology department, providing reassurance, compassion and a smile to our patients and visitors. Before volunteering at SAH, Dorothy worked for many years as a bookkeeper for various businesses and spent sixteen years as a payroll officer at Sault College. After her husband passed away, a friend recruited her to join the SAH volunteer team. Dorothy loves helping people. “Volunteering at SAH gives me a purpose and I have the opportunity to meet so many nice people.”

Dorothy brings a positive attitude into each shift and encourages everyone to apply to become a volunteer at the hospital http://ow.ly/XuUF30fO9Fs.

She is a firm believer in giving back to her community and we thank her for her enthusiasm, her many contributions, and her dedication to our patients!
