Featuring Angie Gervasi

Angie Gervasi

Angie Gervasi joined SAH over 10 years ago and currently works as a Process Improvement Consultant. Prior to this role, she worked in clerical capacities in the Algoma District Cancer Program and in the Seniors Mental Health/Behavioural Support Ontario programs.

Angie works with the Transformation team, staff and physicians across the organization to help facilitate continuous process improvements and positive changes that ultimately benefit patient care. “Our focus is to streamline proce

sses, eliminate waste and create efficiencies that save time for the care providers – time that is more effectively spent on providing direct patient care,” says Angie who has her Lean yellow belt certification. “Using Lean principles and tools, my role is to facilitate the ongoing journey to effective change. We employ the Lean philosophy where the people who do the work, change the work.”

In addition to process improvement work, Angie works hard to promote a values-based culture (Our iCcare Way) at SAH. She organizes events such as the annual SAH Fun Day and the recent Tunnel Art Gallery partnership with White Pines Collegiate. “We have a wonderful group of people at SAH and I enjoy the recognition part of my role which allows me to celebrate our successes with staff.” Angie also helps with the operation of the hospital’s “iCcare Wear Store” which sells clothing and merchandise to promote our values.

The value that Angie identifies with the most is Excellence which is defined as delivering our best every day and encouraging innovation to continuously improve. “I love learning and I thrive in an environment of change. Ultimately, we are all here to serve patients and we are always seeking new and better ways of providing care so we can continuously improve the patient experience.”

What’s most rewarding to Angie? “I love working with our amazing people at SAH. My role enables me to meet people across the organization and it is rewarding to be part of their process improvement successes.”

Outside of work, Angie loves to spend time with her family and friends. She supports her daughter who dances competitively and her son who plays football. Angie also enjoys the outdoors and staying active.

We thank Angie for her many contributions at SAH and for working collaboratively with our staff to continue to make the patient experience a better one!
